Charlie McCarron

Charlie is a composer, music producer, and podcast host.  Having gotten his start as an experimental electronic musician, he has since gravitated toward classical, melodic composing.  His clarinet, cello, and piano score for Nimbus Theatre’s Ghost Sonata was awarded “Best Original Music” in Lavender Magazine’s 2014 Theater Year in Review.  Charlie also scores films and video games, and he recently taught a workshop on composing video game music at his alma mater, Saint John’s University.  Since starting his podcast Composer Quest in 2013, Charlie has interviewed over a hundred composers and songwriters about their craft.  He also challenges his listeners to complete composing “quests,” which have resulted in over 180 new pieces, many of which have been premiered at Composer Quest concerts around the Twin Cities.
